OFFICE PROCEDURE

BOOKING OF MASSES

Monday to Saturday:  9:30 a.m. - 10:30 a.m.

Per Mass one intention only.

Pluri Intention Mass: Wednesday and Saturday Evening only.

Mass Stipend for Sunday & Saturday 7 p.m Mass Rs. 100/-.

Weekday Mass stipend Rs. 50/-.

For Baptisms, Marriages, Jubilee Masses etc. please fix dates and timings with sufficient advance notice and fulfil the required procedures and preparations.

APPLICATION OF CERTIFICATES (Birth, Marriage, Death)

Monday to Saturday:  9:30 a.m. - 10:30 a.m.

Certificates = Rs. 20/- each.
To collect certificates of others, their written consent is absolutely necessary.

 

REGARDING CHANGES IN CHURCH REGISTERS AND CERTIFICATES

To make any changes in the Registers permission from the Chancellor has to be obtained for every change based on documents (Municipal Birth Certificate for name of the child, Parents Marriage certificate for name of Parents, Gazette Publication for name of the child). The Parish Priest gives a letter to the Chancellor asking permission for changes. To make changes in the Baptism or Marriage Certificate of Parents who have expired, the consent of all the siblings who are alive (death certificate copy in case of deceased children to be submitted) is absolutely necessary.

CIVIL REGISTRATION OF MARRIAGE CERTIFICATE ISSUED BY THE PARISH

Attestation of a Church issued Marriage Certificate by a Christian Civil Registrar of Marriages (Government of Maharashtra)

(only for Marriage Certificates issued by the Latin Catholica Churches in the Archdiocese of Bombay)

Procedures to be followed:

  1. Get a latest (not more than six months old) Marriage Certificate from the Church where the marriage was solemnized.

  2. Check for accuracy of spellings of names of all those mentioned in the certificate.  Pay particular attention to the identity proofs of both husband and wife.

  3. A photograph of the husband and wife (8 x 5 cm printed on matt finish paper) is to be pasted on the rear of this Church Marriage Certificate.

  4. Get the Marriage Certificate attested by the Chancery of the Archbishop's House, Fort.

  5. This certificate is also to be attested (on the reverse side) by any authorized Public Notary.

  6. Get this certificate photo-copied on both sides after completing the above steps.

  7. Next, the certificate needs to be counter signed by the Christian Registrar of Marriages appointed by the State Government of Maharashtra, Mr. Louis Sequeira, cell phone number: 9969608609,  (Office: New Administration Building, 9th floor, Opp. Mantralaya, Churchgate).  He is available in the office ONLY between 2:00 p.m. and 4:00 p.m.  After this you need to get the certificate attested by the Officer appointed by the Home Department, Government of Maharashtra who is on the same floor.

  8. Please carry with you original identity proof with one copy of each of the following documents: Passport, PAN card, Aadhaar card, Driving License.  The identity proofs should have the same names with the same spellings as on the marriage certificate.

  9. In case the name of either/both the spouses have been changed subsequent to the marriage, please take along a copy of the Govt. Gazette to that effect.

  10. In case you bring along the certificate of your deceased parent to be attested, you will have to bring along an Affidavit stating you are the daughter / son of the names mentioned on the certificate and carry relating proof of documents.

  11. If the certificate to be attested belongs to a relative / close associate please ask the person concerned to provide a Letter of Authority stating name, address, contact number of both sides.

BAPTISM

Pre-baptism course is mandatory for the first child.

Pre-baptism course can be done anywhere. A certificate or letter of Priest has to be obtained to state that Pre-baptism course has been completed by the Parents and Godparents. The Pre-baptism form which is available in the Parish office has to be filled in. The name of the child must be spelt correctly in the Pre-baptism form. The Parents’ names must be spelt exactly as stated in the Marriage Certificate. Xerox of Marriage Certificate of Parents, Xerox of Birth Card and Xerox of Pre-Baptism course certificate have to be given along with the Form. The form with the attached Xerox copies of documents must be submitted in the Parish office along with donation to the Church in an envelope. Please note that once the details are entered in the baptism register no changes are allowed without the permission from Archbishops house in writing.

NUPTIALS

5:00 p.m. on Weekdays and during the schedule Masses on Sundays.
For Marriage Procedures contact any Priest in the Church office at least 3 to 4 months prior to the marriage. 

 

FUNERAL MASSES

9.30 a.m. and 3.30 p.m.
Burial Permit to be obtained from BMC Cemetery at Worli prior to the Funeral Mass
